A bantamweight fight between Frankie Edgar and Marlon Vera is reportedly in the works for UFC 268 on November 6th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
The fight comes at a time when the 39-year-old Edgar is coming off a devastating flying knee KO loss just 27 seconds into his fight with Cory Sandhagen back in February.
That leaves Edgar with just two wins from his past six fights, with his victories coming against Pedro Munhoz and Cub Swanson, while tasting defeat against top-ranked talents like ‘The Korean Zombie’, Max Holloway and Brian Ortega.
Nevertheless, the former lightweight champion is still ranked No.8 in the bantamweight division as he prepares to take on the 28-year-old Vera, who is several places behind him at No.13.
after a lengthy winning streak, Vera has been alternating between wins and losses for his last four Octagon outings, with a big win over Sean O’Malley and decision victory against Davey Grant last time out being tempered by decision losses to Jose Aldo and Song Yadong.
Edgar vs. Vera joins a UFC 268 card that is set to be headlined by a welterweight title rematch between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, while Michael Chandler vs. Justin Gaethje and Luke Rockhold vs. Sean Strickland are amongst the other big match-ups currently scheduled for the NYC show.
