Jan Blachowicz’s next light-heavyweight title defense will comes against Glover Teixeira at UFC 266 on September 4th.
Blachowicz is on a high right now as he rides a five-fight winning streak that initially saw him rack up wins over Luke Rockhold, ‘Jacare’ Souza and Corey Anderson.
Then Blachowicz unexpectedly found himself in a fight for the 205lb title after Jon Jones vacated the belt to move up to heavyweight, and he seized the opportunity in style by TKO’ing Dominick Reyes to become the new champion.
Blachowicz’s reign was in danger of being short-lived though as middleweight kingpin Israel Adesanya immediately moved up to challenge him in a bid to become a double champion, only to suffer an upset decision loss to the Polish fighter.
As for Teixeira, the former title contender has worked his way back into a position to compete for the belt again at the age of 41 by putting together a five-fight winning streak of his own.
That surge began with submission wins over Karl Roberson and Ion Cutelaba, followed by a split decision victory over Nikita Krylov, a TKO stoppage against Anthony Smith and most recently another submission finish against Thiago Santos.
Blachowicz vs. Teixeira is currently the only fight pencilled in for the September pay-per-view event.
