The stacked UFC 217 event at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 4th will play host to a middleweight fight between Johny Hendricks and Paulo Borrachinha.
Hendricks has been having a tough time of late, winning just two of his last six fights since losing the welterweight title to Robbie Lawler back in late 2014.
Repeated weight cutting failures have somewhat tarnished the star’s reputation, and even after being forced up to middleweight his problems haven’t ceased, coming in 3lbs overweight for his last fight with Tim Boetsch, who would go on to TKO him.
Hendricks will now try to reverse his fortunes against the up-and-coming Brazilian ‘Borrachinha’, who may not be as high-profile a fighter as many of those who he’s been facing over the past few years, but nevertheless presents a major threat to ‘Bigg Rigg’ with a flawless 10-0 record in his career to date, including back-to-back wins inside the Octagon by way of TKO.
Hendricks Vs Borrachinha joins a UFC 217 card that will be led by middleweight title action as current champion Michael Bisping faces up against Georges St-Pierre, while Cody Garbrandt is expected to defend his bantamweight title against TJ Dillashaw and women’s strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk will fight Rose Namajunas.
