The UFC have quickly managed to make alternative arrangements for this coming weekend’s UFC On ESPN 19 main event after Kevin Holland was forced to pull out of his fight with Jack Hermansson after testing positive for Covid-19.
In his place will come Marvin Vettori, who was originally supposed to fight Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza at UFC 256 on December 12th.
Of course that means Jacare now needs a new opponent instead, and the good news is that assuming he’s recovered from Covid-19, then Holland will now fight him instead.
It’s a good solution all-round and ensures that fans will still be treated to two good fights that still make sense within the middleweight division.
Vettori takes this short-notice fight after having racked up a three-fight winning streak in the Octagon in the space of a year, defeating both Cezar Ferreira and Andrew Sanchez by decision, before going on to submit Karl Roberson last time out.
Meanwhile, Hermansson has won five of his last six fights, and his sole fight in 2020 so far was a 78 second submission victory over Kelvin Gastelum back in July.
As such, Hermansson is currently ranked No.3 in the middleweight division, while Vettori is at No.13, giving him a big opportunity to jump up the rankings if he can emerge victorious.
