Mike Perry Steps In To Fight Alex Oliveira At UFC On ESPN 3

Mike Perry has stepped in to replace the injured Li Jingliang against Alex Oliveira at UFC On ESPN 3 in Florida on April 27th.

Perry found a bit of a niche for himself in the UFC’s welterweight division, but he has hit a rough patch in his career recently, culminating in a first round submission loss to Donald Cerrone last time out.

That was Perry’s third loss from his last four Octagon outings, having also been defeated by Santiago Ponzinibbio and Max Griffin, while inbetween times he did rack up a decision win over Paul Felder.

That leaves Perry with an overall 5-4 record heading into his next fight, which will see him coming on on a month’s notice to fight ‘Cowboy’ Oliveira, who was submitted by Gunnar Nelson in his last fight.

However, before that the Brazilian had racked up back-to-back victories over Carlos Condit and Carlos Pedersoli Jr, leaving him with an overall 9-4 (+1nc) UFC record.

Perry Vs Oliveira joins a UFC On ESPN 3 card that will be headlined by a middleweight rematch between Yoel Romero and Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, while Greg Hardy is expected to take the co-main event spot against Dmitri Smoliakov and Glover Teixeira fights Ion Cutelaba.
