A fight between Ryan Hall and Ricardo Lamas has been added to UFC Fight Night 174 in Oklahoma City on May 2nd.
A decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist who went on to win The Ultimate Fighter 22, Hall has only fought three times in the Octagon in the past four years since then, but importantly has emerged victorious on each occasion.
Along the way he earned a unanimous decision victory over Gray Maynard, then became the first person to ever submit BJ Penn courtesy of a heel hook and last year claimed a unanimous decision win against Darren Elkins, taking his career record to 8-1.
Now he faces off against Lamas, who has had a tough time in the Octagon over the past few years, losing three of his past four fights.
Most troublingly for the 37-year-old, two of those losses came by way of knockout against Josh Emmett and Calvin Kattar, but in general Hall is not known as a concussive striker, so that’s less likely to be a concern on this occasion.
Hall vs. Lamas joins a UFC Fight Night 174 card that is set to be headlined by Chris Weidman’s move back down to middleweight to fight Jack Hermansson, while Claudia Gadelha fights Marina Rodriguez elsewhere on the main card.
