Sijara Eubanks Has New Fight Date After Karol Rosa Is Hospitalized Due To Weight-Cut Issues

There has been a late change to this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 176 main card after weight cutting issues led to Karol Rosa being forced out of her fight with Sijara Eubanks.

Rosa was reportedly hospitalized on Thursday afternoon due to a botched weight-cut and that’s led to the fight being scrapped from the card.

However, the UFC have moved quickly to find an alternative fight for Eubanks and she’ll now fight Julia Avila a week later on September 12th at UFC Fight Night 177 instead.

Eubanks will surely sympathize with Rosa as she too has suffered a similar fate in the past – being forced out of her spot on The Ultimate Fighter Season 26 final due to a bad weight cut that led to kidney failure.

Eubanks was able to bounce back after that setback though and has so far compiled a 3-2 run in the UFC, including a unanimous decision win over Sarah Moraes last time out.

As for her new opponent Avila, she’s in the midst of a four-fight winning streak, including back-to-back victories since joining the UFC in July of last year.

Avila had originally been scheduled to fight Nicco Montano, but the bout had to be cancelled after first Montano’s coach and then the fighter herself tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month.
