The Jake Paul circus is in full swing today with the announcement that he’ll be fighting former UFC Fighter Tyron Woodley in a 190lb boxing match on August 28th, and both men have now given their first thoughts on the upcoming bout.
“Tyron ran his mouth a little too much in the locker room when I knocked out his best friend Ben and earned himself a top spot on the Problem Child death list,” Paul wrote on Instagram. “Tyron’s a seasoned striker who has fought the best MMA fighters in the world but will be dropped by a Disney teen star in 2 rounds.”
Needless to say Woodley disagreed with that assessment of how their fight will go, and also revealed that he’ll make more from this pay-per-view than his biggest fights in the UFC.
“Easiest fight of my career and biggest purse of my career all in one night,” Woodley said. “Basically, they brought me in to take out the trash. Can’t wait to shut this b*tch up. This is getting done for the culture, the whole MMA/boxing community, to rid this guy of combat sports.”
“Dear @jakepaul keep the hat, I’m taking your head clean off your neck!” also added on Twitter.
The 39-year-old Woodley recently became a free-agent after the UFC opted not to offer the former 170lb champ a new deal following his four-fight losing streak.
That disappointing late-career run has left Woodley as an early betting underdog against Paul in a bout that will see him competing 20lbs above his natural weight class.
