UFC 277 Loses Two Fighters In Diego Ferreira And Mariya Agapova

UFC 277’s end of July fight card has taken a hit after two fighters were forced to withdraw from the event in the past day.

First up, Diego Ferreira has been forced out of his fight with Drakkar Klose after picking up an injury.

It’s been a disappointing time for the 37-year-old Ferreira in recent times as he headed into 2021 riding a six-fight winning streak, but went on to lose three fights in a row in the space of that year against Beneil Dariush, Gregory Gillespie and Mateusz Gamrot, the latter two by way of TKO.

At this stage it’s not clear if the UFC intends to find a new opponent to keep Klose on the card, as he looks to build on a record of four wins from his last five Octagon outings>

Meanwhile, Mariya Agapova has withdrawn from her fight with Ji Yeon Kim after suffering a knee injury.

Agapova was another fighter who had been hoping to rebound at UFC 277 after losing two of her last three fights, but it seems she’ll have to wait a while longer for that opportunity.

However, her opponent Kim will remain on the card as UFC officials have now drafted in Joselyne Edwards to replace Agapova.

Kim is in dire need of a win after three losses in a row, while Edwards picked herself up from a two-fight losing slump with a decision victory last month.

Despite these changes the top-end of the UFC 277 card remains intact as things stand, with a women’s bantamweight title rematch between current champion Juliana Pena and Amanda Nunes set to headline the show, while Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France will fight for the interim flyweight title in the co-main event.
