UFC Fight Night 125 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 125 event in Belem, Brazila the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was the entertaining main card opener between Thiago Santos and Anthony Smith.

Both men landed big shots as they waged war on the feet in this one, but by the second round it was Santos who was starting to stamp his authority on the fight, and after dropping his opponent once he did so again courtesy of a kick to the body that put Smith down, with follow-up strikes leading to the TKO stoppage.

Co-main event star Valentina Shevchenko earned a ‘Performance Of The Night’ for a completely one-sided beatdown against the debuting Priscila Cachoeira, who was left soaked in blood after the favorite repeatedly mashed her face with vicious ground and pound punches and elbows in the first round.

There was more of the same in the second round, but the referee somehow decided not to stop the fight, and so Shevchenko finally put Cachoeira out of her misery by rear-naked choke instead.

Earlier, Iuri Alcantara earned himself a ‘Performance Of The Night’ award after stopping Joe Soto in just 86 seconds, with a front kick to the midsection putting his opponent in reverse gear, and a hail of strikes behind it securing the TKO finish.
