Following last night’s UFC Fight Night 207 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.
Earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ honors was a hard-hitting main card battle between Lucas Almeida and Michael Trizano.
There were no ‘Octagon jitters’ for the debuting Almeida, who was clearly getting the better of the early action against Trizano, only to then be dropped late in the round. However, he didn’t let that phase him and in the second round he got revenge when he put Trizano down with a left hook. He wasn’t able to find a finish from that, but in the opening minute of the third he again connected with another big left hook to send his opponent to the canvas again and this time went on to secure a TKO finish.
Meanwhile, another UFC newcomer Karine Silva secured a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus after she was able to lock in a second-round d’arce choke submission against Pauliana Botelho on the main card. In doing so she became only the second female fighter to find a finish with that submission in UFC history.
Also scooping up a performance bonus was ‘The Jamaican Sensation’ Ode Osbourne, who made short work of Zarrukh Adashev, knocking him out with a big overhand right just 61 seconds into their fight.
