Two UFC fighters Zubaira Tukhugov and Islam Makhachev were reportedly involved in shocking scenes following Saturday night’s UFC 229 main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
Tukhugov and Makhachev were part of Nurmagomedov’s team at the event and made their way into the Octagon following the conclusion of the fight and proceeded to brawl with McGregor just moments after ‘The Eagle’ had himself sparked off trouble by jumping out of the cage to attack his rival’s BJJ coach Dillon Danis.
Their actions are likely to now have serious consequences as on Saturday night Dana White indicated that those involved in attacking McGregor would never fight in the Octagon again.
“The guys who jumped in will never fight here.” White stated at the post-fight presser. “They’ll never fight here.”
The 27-year-old Tukhugov has gone 3-1 in his UFC career to date and holds an 18-4 record overall. However, he hasn’t fought since May of 2014 when he lost to Renato Moicano as he subsquently tested positive for Ostarine that November and was suspended for two years.
Tukhugov was expected to return to the UFC to fight McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 138 later this month, but by the sounds of things that will not happen now.
Nevertheless, Tukhugov has reportedly remained defiant since Saturday’s shameful scenes.
“I slapped him as promised. I promised to make him answer for his words and I did,” Tukhugov is claimed to have stated in a video post in the days since the brawl.
Meanwhile, the other fighter involved, the 27-year-old Makhachev also appeared to have a bright future in the UFC with a 5-1 record to date including a four-fight winning streak to add to his overall 16-1 career record, but due to his actions he too is now potentially facing a permanent ban from competing in the Octagon.
