UFC On ESPN 1 drew an average of 1,463,000 viewers on saturday night during the promotion’s first ever full event on the main ESPN channel.
That was good enough to be the 5th most watched show that night behind some stiff opposition from the likes of the 2019 NBA All-Stars game and The Walking Dead.
Compared to recent ratings during the UFC’s final shows on FOX Sports 1, Saturday event performed strongly, with for instance the final UFC Fight Night card on FS1 averaging just 702,000 viewers.
However, it does fall short of the flagship UFC On FOX events, which would generally draw at least a few hundred thousand more viewers as you would expect from a channel that was available in far more homes.
Neverthless, it appears that the UFC On ESPN series is going to be far more frequent than they were with UFC On FOX, which only aired four times a year, compared with four UFC On ESPN events planned for the first five months of the year.
Meanwhile, the UFC On ESPN 1 prelims also performed well, delivering 988,000 viewers, while the event claimed an overall 0.9 rating and performed strongly among adults 18-49, which is a key demographic in terms of bringing in big brands, sponsorships and ad revenue.
