Heavyweight fighter Parker Porter has been released from the UFC after eight fights in the promotion.
The 38-year-old Porker joined the UFC back in 2020 after compiling a 10-5 record on the regional circuit, which included a 1-1 stint in the Bellator promotion and being an early victim for young Jon Jones, who KO’d him in just 36 seconds at World Championship Fighting 3 in 2008, just a few months before he joined the UFC and went on to become one of the all-time greats.
Porter’s own run in the UFC got off to a bad start when he was TKO’d in the first round by Chris Daukaus, but he did then bounce back by racking up three wins in a row over other lower-tier heavyweights in the promotion like Josh Parisian, Chase Sherman and Alan Baudot.
Porter has found it tougher going since then though, suffering a 1st round submission loss to rising star Jailton Almeida, followed by a 66 second KO defeat at the hands of Justin Tafa.
Back in May Porter earned a TKO win over Braxton Smith, but 84 second knockout defeat against Justin Tafa’s brother Junior in Singapore back in August has ultimately proved to be his last fight for the promotion, leaving him with an overall record in the Octagon of 4-4.
