UFC Veteran Krzysztof Jotko Has Been Released

Middleweight fighter Krzysztof Jotko has been released from the UFC, ending a nine-year run in the promotion.

The 33-year-old was coming off a submission loss to Brendan Allen in early October, but he’d actually won his previous two fights against Gerald Meerschaert and Misha Cirkunov.

In fact, looking a little further back, Jotko had won five of his last seven fights, which isn’t the kind of form that would typically see a fighter cut from the UFC roster.

However, it could well be the case that Jotko is the latest in a number of fighters over the years who have met a similar fate despite having a respectable record due to their style of fighting.

Jotko has the kind of grinding, workmanlike style that can be effective in picking up more wins than losses, but with all but one of his 11 UFC wins coming via decision it’s not a particularly fan-friendly approach and doesn’t tend to play well with the UFC brass.

Nonetheless, given that he’s in his early 30’s and had an 11-6 UFC run, along with a solid 24-6 record overall, Jotko shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding another notable promotion in the near future if he chooses to fight on.
