Yair Rodriguez Vs Alex Caceres To Headline UFC Fight Night 92

Up and coming Mexican star Yair Rodriguez will headline UFC Fight Night 92 in Salt Lake City, Utah against Alex Caceres on August 6th.

This will be the UFC’s first ever event in Utah, and will also mark a step up in profile for both fighters, who have never headlined a show for the promotion before.

The 23 year-old Rodriguez has been turning heads with some eye-catching performances so far in the Octagon since becoming the first TUF: Latin America winner in 2014.

In total, ‘Pantera’ has now racked up four wins in the UFC to date, including a spectacular head kick knockout against Andre Fili at UFC 197 in April.

As for Caceres, the 27 year-old has turned over a new leaf in 2016 after having lost three fights in a row prior to that.

A win over Masio Fullen a the turn of the year and then a short notice victory against Cole Miller at UFC 199 this past weekend have got him back on track, and led to his most high-profile fight in the UFC since joining five years ago.

It’s interesting to note that the UFC did try to put on an event in Salt Lake City once before, scheduling a UFC On Versus 2 show featuring Jon Jones Vs Vladimir Matyushenko back in 2010, but they hastily scrapped that and moved it elsewhere after ticket sales proved to be lower than anticipated.

No doubt they’ll have much lower expectations this time around, particularly since they are leading with two fighters who aren’t considered draws in the Octagon at this moment in time.
