Jordan Wright and William Knight have been released by the UFC after they both suffered losses at the UFC Fight Night 219 event in Las Vegas this past weekend.
Known as ‘The Beverly Hill’s Ninja’, the 31-year-old Wright suffered a unanimous decision loss to Zac Pauga on the main card of Saturday night’s show.
That fight had seen Wright move up to light-heavyweight in an attempt to shake things up after having lost a further three bouts prior to that. Worse still, all of those defeats had come inside the distance, starting with a 98 second TKO loss to Bruno Silva, followed by succumbing to a first round submission against marc-Andre Barriult and then another TKO defeat against Dusko Todorovic.
In total that sees Wright bow out of the UFC with a 2-5 record, taking his overall career record to 12-5 (+1nc).
Meanwhile, it’s perhaps not overly surprising to hear that the 34-year-old Knight has also been shown the exit after he hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons after an absolutely dismal performance against Marcin Prachnio that saw him land just 8 strikes during the 15 minute encounter.
That marked Knight’s third loss in a row, during which he’d also missed weight by 12lbs for a light-heavyweight fight with Max Grisham that he lost on the scorecards, followed by a bout at heavyweight against Devin Clark that saw him TKO’d after tipping the scales at 251lbs, before dropping back down to 205lbs for his latest defeat.
Knight went 2-4 during his UFC run and now holds a pro-record of 11-5.
