Ovince Saint Preux Released From UFC Along With 10 Other Fighters

UFC veteran Ovince Saint Preux has been released from the UFC, and another 10 fighters have also been cut from the roster.

The other fighters included in this round of cuts includes Brian Kelleher, Ricky Glenn, Victor Altamirano, Da Woon Jung, Kaynan Kruschewsky, Brianna Fortino, Victoria Leonardo, Karl Williams, Danyelle Wolf and Jarno Errens.

The 41-year-old OSP has been in the UFC for the past 11 years since joining via the Strikeforce promotion back in 2013 and has amassed 28 fights in the Octagon for a 15-13 run.

Along the way he beat the likes of Maurcio ‘Shogun Rua (x2), Yushin Okami, Corey Anderson, Nikita Krylov, Tyson Pedro and Alonzo Menifield, while he also fought for the interim 205lb title against Jon Jones at UFC 197 in 2016, losing by unanimous decision.

He was also known for his knack of finishing fights via the rarely utilized ‘Von Flue’ choke, holding the current UFC record of 4 for that submission, which led to some people jokingly renaming the move the ‘Von Preux’ choke.

Prior to his UFC exit OSP had lost four of his last six fights while shifting between light-heavyweight and heavyweight, with a first round submission loss to Ryan Spann earlier this month ultimately proving to be the final bout of his UF career.

Of the other fighter listed this week, the 38-year-old Brian Kelleher was another notable departure, having been with the UFC for over 7 years, going 8-9 overall, while the 35-year-old Ricky Glenn had fought in the Octagon for 8 years, going 4-6-1 during that time.
