Donald Cerrone Announces Comeback; Wants Two More UFC Fights

UFC hall-of-famer Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone has announced his intention to come out of retirement in order to fight two more times in the UFC, which would take him to the 50-fight milestone under the ‘Zuffa’ banner (UFC + WEC).

“I want to go back and get two more fights,” Cerrone said in an Instagram video. “When I retired, I told you I was getting my hair done and get on steroids. The No. 50 (Zuffa) has been sitting on my mind for a while.

“So, I’ve been working with Transcend for the last two years, taking TRT and a bunch of peptides. Now we got a protocol for all you people that, ‘Oh, what if you get on it, you can’t ever come off.’ Well, I now have to come off and piss clean, fight in a few months. So, watch this.”

Cerrone also wrote a post on Instagram highlighting the goals he has in mind for his comeback.

“I’m chasing greatness 50 @ufc fights,” Cerrone wrote.
“Not only do I want a win
“I want a finish
“I want a bonus

“Most wins in ufc history
“Most finishes
“Most bonuses
“Most walks to that cage.”

It’s been over two years since the 41-year-old Cerrone bowed out of the sport, and at the time it made perfect sense as the fan-favorite had gone through a dismal run of results in the final few years of his career, failing to win a fight in 7 attempts.

Cerrone also suffered four TKO losses during that period against the likes of Tony Ferguson, Justin Gaethje, Conor McGregor and Alex Morono, so some fans may have valid concerns as to whether it’s a good idea for ‘Cowboy’ to get back on the saddle and return to the Octagon in his 40’s.

It seems to be a bit of a trend at the moment though, with Jose Aldo having returned to the fold this year a couple of years after retiring from MMA, while Jorge Masvidal recently revealed he’s planning a UFC return 18 months after departing, and Tony Ferguson semi-retired in the Octagon after his latest loss, only to then change his mind before he’d even left the arena!
