Ailin Perez edged out a fairly uneventful unanimous decision win over Nurma Dumont tonight at UFC Fight Night 289.

Round One

Dumont fires out the jab. She lands a calf kick. Perez still finding her range. Inside low kick for Dumont.

Jab for Dumont and a solid counter from Perez. Calf kick for Dumont, but Perez responds with punches.

Another inside calf kick from Dumont now. Perez missing on a high kick attempt. Jab from Dumont.

Dumont looking to punch again, but Perez times a nice takedown in the center of the Octagon.

Perez in half-guard with around 90 seconds to work. Perez steadily dragging her over to the cage. Dumont managing to tie up Perez enough to not take much damage.

Round Two

Nice body kick for Perez and now clinches up looking for another takedown. Dumont manages to stay upright against the cage.

Dumont catches Perez by surprise with a throw of her own to get on top in her closed guard.

Dumont unleashes a few punches, but Perez manages to work quickly back to her feet.

Solid leg kick for Dumont. Side kick from Perez. Dumont with a couple of low kicks. Another inside leg kick for her and one to the outside from Perez.

Dumont lands a jab. Not too much happening here now as they both wait for an opening. Perez tries for a spinning backfist that misses. Low kick for Dumont.

High kick off the guard from Perez. Calf kick for Dumont again. Now a jab.

Dumont lands another punch and steers clear of a spinning backfist from Perez. Perez with a spinning back kick to the mid-section late in the round.

Round Three

Dumont misses a kick and Perez lands a counter-punch. Inside leg kick for Dumont and an outside one from Perez.

Perez crashes forward but doesn’t land anything of it. Another inside leg kick for Dumont. Calf kick for Perez.

Body kick for Dumont and a calf kick from Perez. A couple of clubbing punches from Dumont. Perez loads up on a couple of punches and misses.

Body kick for Perez. Calf kick for Dumont. Another solid one connects. Body kick for Perez. Calf kick from her.

Inside leg kick for Perez. Perez goes in for a takedown. She doesn’t get it at the first attempt, so turns Dumont and drives her into the cage.

60 seconds to go. Knee for Perez to the leg. One for Dumont to the body now, but Perez lands one of her own.

Perez tries to drag Dumont down late in the round, but fails. Both fighters looking to keep the rivalry going after the final horn sounds, but that begs the question why they didn’t put more effort into the actual 15 minutes they just fought.

Decision

There’s not too much to choose between the two fighters here, but it’s Perez who the judges deem has done enough to win by unanimous decision (29-28 x3).
