Alex Pereira will remain at heavyweight for his next fight against Sergei Pavlovich in a five-round co-main event at UFC 335 on December 12th in Las Vegas.
The 39-year-old Pereira is of course a former UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight champion who decided it was time to test himself up at heavyweight this year.
However, his divisional debut didn’t go according to plan, suffering a 2nd round TKO to Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of the one-of-a-kind UFC White House event back in June.
The decisive nature of that defeat had led to question marks as to whether he would continue on at heavyweight, but ‘Poatan’ believes he can still make an impact in the weight class, and will now look to prove it against the No.2 ranked Pavlovich.
The 34-year-old Pavlovich is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, with wins over Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Waldo Cortes-Acosta last year being followed up by a 1st round KO finish of Tallison Teixeira back in May.
Pereira vs. Pavlovich takes the co-main event spot on an end-of-year UFC 335 event that will be headlined by a fight for the symbolic BMF title between Charles Oliveira and Diego Lopes, while Brandon Moreno vs. Charles Johnson and Bo Nickal vs. Joe Pyfer are also confirmed for the card.
