A featherweight fight between Aljamain Sterling and Kevin Vallejos has been booked for UFC Fight Night 294 in Al Rayyan, Qatar on November 21st.
A former bantamweight champion with three successful title defenses, the 37-year-old Sterling has been competing in the featherweight division for the past two-and-a-half years, putting together a 3-1 run so far.
Sterling comes into this fight off back-to-back victories, having beaten Brian Ortega by unanimous decision in August of last year, followed by another win on the scorecards against Youssef Zalal back in April, leaving him ranked No.4.
Rather than facing another top 5 contender next though, Sterling will instead be squaring up to the No.9 placed Vallejos, who holds an 18-1 career record.
That includes a four-fight winning streak for Vallejos in the UFC so far since joining from the Contender Series back in 2024, including delivering a KO finish of Giga Chikadze and TKO stoppage of Josh Emmett in the past 12 months.
Sterling vs. Vallejos adds to a UFC Fight Night 294 card that will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Jiri Prochazka and Navajo Stirling, while Brian Ortega vs. Dan Hooker and Jared Cannonier vs. Ikram Aliskerov have also been confirmed for the event.
