UFC veteran Court McGee has revealed that he will retire from the sport after one final fight at UFC 332 in Salt Lake City on October 3rd.
The 41-year-old McGee confirmed his decision on an Instagram video, but stopped short of revealing who the opponent will be for his retirement bout.
“I signed my final contract,” McGee said on Instagram. “I’ve negotiated my last either five or six contracts, usually four-fight deals – actually, all of them are four-fight deals, but I signed my last fight in my last four-fight contract. I was going to retire before I had my neck surgery, and I had it, and I came back and renegotiated, and this will be my final fight in my four-fight contract.
“41 years old, I’ve been competing in the UFC since 2010 with the four fights in ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ house, Season 11, this will make it my 29th UFC fight. A little nostalgic, and it will be here in Salt Lake City. So, that’s exciting and preparations are underway for what will be my retirement fight.”
McGee is a former TUF Season 11 winner who has gone on to carve out a 16-year campaign in the UFC, going 11-13 in the process.
McGee has found the going tough in the latter stages of his career, having lost four of his last five fights, but he’ll now be hoping he can get a final win under his belt before hanging up his gloves for good.
