Mike Malott produced one of the best knockouts of the year in the main event of UFC Fight Night 291 this evening after landing a perfectly timed knee to the jaw of Joaquin Buckley.

Round One

The welterweight main event is underway in Canada!

Tentative opening minute, but Malott does land a body kick and Buckley threatens with a quick flurry that’s just out of range.

Another body kick for Malott. Nicely timed right hand for Malott as Buckley was about to burst forward.

Swiping right hook from Buckley. Inside leg kick for him. Head kick attempt from Malott comes up short.

Punch for Malott as they both look to exchange. High kick from Malott is blocked and then Buckley fires back with a punch.

Malott tries for the head kick again, but it’s blocked. Buckley presses forward and Buckley unloads a high kick that comes off the upper arm.

Inside leg kick for Buckley. Body kick for Malott. Jab from Malott but Buckley blasts through that to force him to retreat with his guard up.

Round Two

Buckley applies pressure and lands with a quick combo before getting into the clinch. Malott able to reverse the position though against the cage. He works a couple of knees to the body.

A few more knees from Malott. Buckley tries for his own knee, but Malott lands a couple more. Buckley able to break away.

Right hand from Malott as Buckley was coming forward. Inside leg kick for Buckley.

Malott suddenly unleashes a massive knee upstairs just as Buckley is lunging forward and it lands flush, sending his mouthpiece absolutely flying across the Octagon! Buckley falls face-first to the canvas in a daze and Malott blasts him with a powerful follow-up punch that completes a stunning highlight-reel knockout at 2.32mins of the second round.
