Tina Black (aka Valesca Machado) became TUF 34’s strawweight winner tonight at UFC Fight Night 289 with a decisive 2nd round TKO victory over Melissa Amaya.

Round One

Cautious start, but Black finally lands a nice right hand. Now Amaya steps in with a punch of her own.

Amaya misses a punch and Black clinches up. They soon break apart though. Amaya lands another punch.

Black with a step-in jab and tries to land a right hand behind it. Amaya fires off a couple of hooks, but Black also lands one of her own on the counter.

Brief exchange in close quarters and Black gets through with her jab.

Right hand for Black. Big punch from Black rocks Amaya. Black tees off with more punches. She lands a good combination to the bloodied Amaya, but she hangs in there.

It’s all Black here as she continues to press forward looking for a finish. She gets a right hand through and then follows up with a couple more. Amaya in trouble here, but she manages to fire off a counter that buckles Black’s knees for a brief moment, before Black goes right back to landing again.

Round Two

Amaya charges forward behind a few punches. There’s a few exchanges at close quarters. Black wading in with hooks.

Black overcommits to a strike and stumbles when it misses, but recovers quickly and gets Amaya into the clinch against the cage.

They move away from the cage and Black lands a knee to the body then hurts Amaya with a punch.

Another solid right lands for Black. Amaya showing a good chin here, but she can’t keep taking big shots like this.

Two more right hands put Amaya down again, and while she gets right back up, she’s greeted by another right that sits her down one final time to seal Black’s TKO victory at 3:19mins of the second round and crown her as the next Ultimate Fighter.
