Former women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie will return to action after a long absence to take on Norma Dumont at UFC Fight Night 242 on April 6th in Las Vegas.
The 39-year-old de Randamie became the UFC’s first ever 145lb champion after beating Holly Holm on the scorecards, but she was stripped of the title the following year after refusing to fight Cris Cyborg.
De Randamie then returned to the bantamweight division and would go on to win three of her next four fights there, beating Raquel Pennington, Aspen Ladd and Julianna Pena, while her loss was in an unsuccessful attempt to claim the 135lb title from Amanda Nunes in 2019.
‘The Iron Lady’ hasn’t fought in over three-and-a-half years since her submission win over Pena in October of 2020 and comes back after giving birth to her first child back in March of last year.
For her comeback fight she’ll be going up against the 33-year-old Dumont, who is coming off three wins in a row at 135lbs, having earned unanimous decision wins over Danyelle Wolf, Karol Rosa and Chelsea Handler to reach No.12 in the bantamweight rankings.
De Randamie vs. Dumont joins a UFC Fight Night 242 card that will be headlined by a middleweight fight between Marvin Vettori and Brendan Allen.
