Tai Tuivasa vs. Marcin Tybura Announced For UFC 298

A heavyweight clash between Tai Tuivasa and Marcin Tybura has been announced for UFC 298 in Anaheim, California on February 17th.

For a period of time Tuivasa was knocking out opponents left, right and center, with the likes of Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai and Greg Hardy all falling victim to the Aussie slugger between October of 2020 and February of 2022.

However, since then Tuivasa’s found himself being on the receiving end of knockout losses against Ciryl Gane and Sergei Pavlovich, while most recently in September he was submitted by Alexander Volkov.

Now the 9th ranked Tuivasa will try to halt his slide and keep in the top 10 rankings when he goes up against Tybura, who is coming off a 73 second TKO loss against Tom Aspinall in the summer.

Prior to that the 38-year-old had been on a good run, winning 7 out of 8 fights since the start of 2020, beating the likes of Sergey Spivak, Ben Rothwell, Walt Harris and Blogoy Ivanov along the way, leaving him ranked No.10 in the division heading into this fight.

Tuivasa vs. Tybura joins a UFC 298 card that will be headlined by a featherweight title fight between current champion Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria, while a potential bantamweight title elminator between Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo was also just announced for the event.
