Tyson Pedro will fight Zhang Mingyang in a light-heavyweight match-up at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia on February 11th.
So the 31-year-old Pedro will be on home soil for this fight as he looks to build on a his current two-fight winning streak, which has seen him pick up two first round finishes in a row in 2022.
That run started with a KO finish against Ike Villanueva just five seconds before the end of the opening round back in April, and was followed up a 65 second TKO stoppage of Harry Hunsucker in August.
It’s not been all smooth sailing for Pedro in the UFC though as he had lost two fights in a row inside the distance before that, but overall he holds a 5-3 Octagon record and will be hoping that 2023 could be the year that he pushes up into the 205lb rankings.
Meanwhile, his opponent, the 24-year-old Mingyang makes his official UFC debut at the event after impressing with a brutal first round KO finish of George Tokkos at the ‘Road To UFC: Singapore’ event back in June.
That takes Mingyang’s current winning streak to nine fights while competing mostly in his native China and leaves him with an overall record of 16-6, with all 16 of his career victories having come inside the distance.
Pedro vs. Mingyang joins a UFC 284 card that only has one other fight attached to it currently, with former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker set to fight Paulo Costa.
