Mateusz Gamrot has stepped up to replace Dan Hooker against Jalin Turner at UFC 285 on March 4th in Las Vegas.
A hand injury had forced Hooker to withdraw from the originally scheduled fight, but the card hasn’t taken a hit as a result of that as his new replacement Gamrot is actually four places above him in the lightweight rankings at No.7.
The 32-year-old Gamrot is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Beneil Dariush last time out in October of last year, but prior to that he had been on a four-fight winning streak, beating the likes of Scott Holtzman, Jeremy Stephens, Carlos Diego Ferreira and Arman Tsarukyan along the way.
On a little under three weeks notice he’ll now be fighting the 10th ranked Turner, who is currently in the midst of a five fight unbeaten stretch that included wins over Jamie Mullarkey and Brad Ridell last year.
with Gamrot vs. Turner set, UFC 285 proceeds with a card that’s fronted by an interim heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane along with a women’s strawweight title bout that sees Valentina Shevchenko defend her belt against Alexa Grasso.
