Miesha Tate Out; Holly Holm vs. Mayra Bueno Silva Now Headlines UFC Fight Night 225

Miesha Tate is out of her fight with Mayra Bueno Silva at UFC Fight Night 225 on July 15th due to an injury, and Holly Holm has now stepped in to replace her.

A fight between Rafael dos Anjos and Vicente Luque had been expected to headline the show, but it’s just been pushed back until August 12th and so Holm vs. Silva now serves as the main event.

Holm is currently ranked No.3 in the bantamweight division and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Yana Santos back in March. In her last four fights she also picked up wins over Irene Aldana and Raquel Pennington, though she also suffered a split-decision loss to Ketlen Vieira in May of last year.

As for Silva, she is currently on a three-fight winning streak that’s seen her pick up a decision victories over Wu Yanan and submission finishes against Stephanie Egger and then Lina Lansberg last time out that took her to the No.10 spot on the bantamweight ladder.

Holm vs. Silva fronts a UFC Fight Night 225 card that doesn’t yet have a destination confirmed but also currently features the likes of Walt Harris vs. Josh Parisian and Norma Dumont vs. Chelsea Handler.
