undefeated fighter Azamat Murzakanov will be going up against Volkan Oezdemir in a light-heavyweight encounter at UFC On ESPN 51 in Paris, France on September 3rd.
The 34-year-old Murzakanov hails from Russia and has quickly made his mark since joining the UFC’s 205lb ranks from the Contender Series in 2021, picking up three wins in a row to extend his record to a perfect 13-0.
That includes a flying knee KO finish of Tafon Nchukwi in his debut, followed by a TKO stoppage of Devin Clark, while most recently he earned a unanimous decision victory over Dustin Jacoby to climb to the No.11 spot on the light-heavyweight ladder.
Now Murzakanov will take on former light-heavyweight title contender Oezdemir, who has been having a tough time of it in the past few years, with only win to show from his last four fights.
That victory came against Paul Craig last year, but it was sandwiched inbetween losses to Jiri Prochazka, Magomed Ankalaev and most recently Nikita Krylov, leaving him placed at No.8 in the 205lb rankings.
Oezdemir vs Murzakanov joins a UFC On ESPN 51 event in Paris that will be headlined by Ciryl Gane vs. Sergey Spivak, but currently has no other fights officially attached to it.
