Geoff Neal has had to withdraw from his welterweight fight with Ian Garry on the main card of UFC 292 on August 19th in Boston due to an undisclosed medical issue, but the promotion has already managed to secure a suitable replacement.

the No.11 ranked Magny will come in on less than two weeks notice to replace Neal and come in off a split-decision win against Philip Rowe back in June. That was the 36-year-old’s 2nd fight of the year so far, having previously lost by submission to Gilbert Burns in January.

Now he’ll be going up against one of the division’s most exciting rising stars in the 25-year-old Garry, who is currently undefeated in his 12-fight career, including having gone 5-0 in the UFC so far.

So far this year Garry has already racked up two victories, having TKO’d Song Kenan in March and then followed that up with a 1st round TKO stoppage of Daniel Rodriguez a couple of months later to rise to No.13 on the rankings.

With Magny vs. Garry now official, UFC 292 proceeds with an event that will be headlined by a bantamweight title showdown between current champion Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley, while women’s strawweight champ Weili Zhang defends her title against Amanda Lemos in the co-main event.
