A lightweight fight between Bobby Green and Grant Dawson will headline UFC Fight Night 229 on October 7th in Las Vegas.
The 36-year-old Green is coming off a third-round submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 291 in July. His only other fight so far this year ended prematurely via no-contest after a clash of heads with Jared Gordon left his opponent unable to continue.
Those two fights have helped get some distance between Green and a disappointing 2022 campaign that had saw him suffer back-to-back losses, with a 1st round TKO loss to Islam Makhachev early in the year being followed by a knockout defeat against Drew Dober that December.
Now Green takes on the 29-year-old Dawson, who has gone undefeated in his nine-fight UFC run so far, extending his overall career record to 20-1-1 in the process.
That run has culminated in a trio of wins over Jared Gordon, Mark Madsen and most recently Damir Ismuaglov, with the former two coming by way of submission, and the latter by unanimous decision, lifting him up to No.10 in the lightweight rankings.
Green vs. Dawson fronts a UFC Fight Night 229 card that will also feature the likes of Drew Dober vs. Ricky Glenn, Alexander Hernandez vs. Bill Algeo and Joe Pyfer vs. Abdul Razak Alhassan.
