Daniel Zellhuber managed to hurt Christos Giagos on the feet in the second round tonight at UFC Fight Night 227 and then punished his opponent for trying to shoot or a takedown by catching him in an anaconda choke submission for the finish.
Round One:
Right hand for Giagos as Zellhuber takes the center of the Octagon. Giagos lunges in with a left hand now.
Giagos with a right hand that hurts Zellhuber and follows it up with a flurry of punches. Zellhuber backpeddles though and manages to survive that onslaught.
Head kick attempt from Zellhuber comes off the guard. Leg kick for him. Another high kick off the guard. Body punch from Giagos. Solid calf kick from Giagos. Right hand for Giagos and a counter from Zellhuber.
Body kick for Giagos. He lands a leg kick. Now a right hand lands. Zellhuber whistles past Giagos head with an uppercut.
Nice punch lands for Giagos. Right hand from Zellhuber snaps Giagos head back up and another right behind it. Giagos attempts a takedown but Zellhuber stays upright.
Leg kick from Zellhuber. He lands another before the round ends.
Round Two:
Push kick to the body from Zellhuber but eats a punch in response. Head kick attempt from Zellhuber is blocked. Grazing right hanad from him and one from Giagos.
Jab from Zellhuber. Now a leg kick. Push kick to the body. Good timing on a right hand from Zellhuber and follows up with more punches that had Giagos troubled for a moment.
Giagos tries for a takedown but Zellhuber shows good takedown defense as he stays on his feet. Giagos working hard for this but doesn’t get it and has to go back to striking range.
Straight right from Giagos. Kick for Zellhuber. Right hand gets through for Zellhuber and might have Giagos hurt. Giagos tries to shoot for a takedown, but Zellhuber counters by going for an anaconda choke and before you know it Giagos is in a bad spot on the mat and has to tap out at 3.26mins of the second round!
