UFC On ESPN 59 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 59 event the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

‘Fight Of The Night’ honors on this occasion went to a hard-hitting, bloody striking battle between Jean Silva and Drew Dober.

These two are known for their punching power and fists were certainly flying throughout the fight, but what really made the difference in the end was Silva’s nasty elbow strikes, even managing to find a home for his spinning elbow attack. And that took a big toll on Dober, who was visibly rocked by one and also suffered a nasty cut above his right eye that developed into a gaping wound, which ultimately lead to the fight being waved off in the third round, leading to Silva winning by TKO due to a doctor’s stoppage.

One of two ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses was issued to Montel Jackson, who took just 18 seconds to land a left-handed knockout blow against Da’Mon Blackshear.

Also earning a performance bonus was Charles Johnson, who appeared to be two rounds down on the scorecards heading into the final round of his fight with Joshua Van, before turning the fight on it’s head 20 seconds into the third courtesy of an uppercut that knocked out his opponent.
