UFC On ESPN 60 Bonus Awards

Following last night’s UFC On ESPN 60 event in Las Vegas the recipients of the evening’s $50,000 bonus awards were announced.

Four ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonuses were dished out on this occasion and that included one for main event winner Virna Jandiroba, who had already been testing Amanda Lemos’ submission defense in the second round before suddenly transitioning nicely into an armbar attempt that forced her opponent to tap out.

Steve Garcia extended his consecutive run of finishes via strikes in the UFC to four fights in the co-main event after he made an aggressive start against Seung-woo Choi that paid off when he rocked his opponent with a big left hook and then sat him down with follow-up strikes, before landing hammer-fists and punches on the mat to seal the TKO finish just 96 seconds into the fight.

Bruno Gustavo da Silva also took home a performance bonus despite appearing to be coming off second best to Cody Durden’s early aggression in their fight on the main card. Silva hung in there though and wad rewarded in the second round when he unleashed a big uppercut that floored Durden, before cutting him open with a swift series of elbows and follow-up punches on the mat to secure the TKO stoppage.

The quickest finish of the night belonged to Hyder Amil, whose fight against Jeong Yeong Lee was moved to the main card on short-notice, and he made the most of his brief but very violent moment in the spotlight. Almost immediately both fighters decided to just start trading big punches at close range, and it quickly became apparent that Amil was getting the better of it, leading him to unload a relentless barrage of left and right hook that whipped his opponents head from side to side. Somehow Lee remained standing, but after eating a crazy amount of punches in such a short space of time the ref rightly stepped in to wave off the fight, handing Amil a memorable 65 second TKO finish.
