Conor McGregor has gone on a rant at former president Donald Trump for naming Khabib Nurmagomedov as his favorite fighter, leading to his rival Michael Chandler getting involved too.
Trump was asked during an interview who his favorite fighter was and he had no hesitation in naming the legendary lightweight Nurmagomedov, who famously had a major rivalry with McGregor, leading to his title-winning submission victory over him in 2018.
Trump noted how Khabib spoke to him at a recent UFC event and claimed he’d urged him to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine, which the presidential candidate assured him he would if he wins the U.S. election in November.
However, it seems that Trump actually misunderstood what Khabib was saying during that Octagon-side chat as video footage of it shows that the retired lightweight champ was actually urging him to stop the war in Palestine.
Regardless of that gaffe, McGregor was left absolutely fuming that Trump had mentioned Khabib, and in typical fashion wasn’t shy about letting him know about it.
“Campaign ending decision,” McGregor declared on X. “A smelly fat mountain monkey from the inbred mountains of Dagestan is your favorite UFC (AMERICAN COMPANY) fighter? Wow. Abysmal.
“I was actually wrong. Couple hundred million he is worth,” McGregor continued. “Not multi B. I would have thought USA ONLY would be the mentality here and what I would want to see out of my president, personally. To pick a retired inbred fighter from Dagestan Russia who has 3 main events only to his trumps favorite fighter.”
At this point Michael Chandler stepped in to scold McGregor for ranting at Trump.
“Stop it….@TheNotoriousMMA,” Chandler wrote. “If you had half the balls that DT had you would have shown up June 29th. Instead you’re normal walking, beer chuggin’ Austin 3:16 style at a local fight show/motorcycle rally in South Dakota, a RED, 100% #maga state by the way.”
“Bro he doesn’t even know who the fuck you are lol,” McGregor fired back. “He probably thinks you are a little broke begging a*sewipe.”
“He does @TheNotoriousMMA But that is neither here nor there,” Chandler responded. “Here’s the deal – I beat your ass in December…I bet my entire career on it. End the year back flipping over your lifeless body on the canvas.”
McGregor then appeared to confirm a potential rebooking of their fight for UFC 310 in December.
“My man, it was an abysmal choice for fighter. Be real with yourself, please. Horrific!” McGregor replied, before going on to strengthen a rumor that a fight between the two will be rescheduled for December.
“And yes I look forward to December! It was going to be big bear originally for my camp but now it will be Colorado Springs instead! Better facilities. Where the US Olympic athletes train!”
