A heavyweight fight between Derrick Lewis and Alexander Romanov will feature as the co-main event on the newly announced UFC Fight Night 246 event in Edmonton, Canada on November 2nd.
The 39-year-old Lewis comes into the fight off a third round TKO victory against Rodrigo Nascimento at UFC On EPN 56 back in May.
‘The Black Beast’s’ form prior to that had been poor though, having only won once in five fights, with defeats against notable names like Tai Tuivasa, Sergei Pavlovich, Sergey Spivak and Jailton Almeida meaning that he’s now ranked just No.11 in the division.
Now Lewis will attempt to build on his recent win against the 33-year-old Romanov, who is no stranger to patchy form himself, having suffered losses in three of his last four Octagon appearances.
The one bright spot for Romanov was a TKO victory over Blagoy Ivanov in July of last year, but that was surrounded by losses to Marcin Tybura, alexander Volkov and most recently Jailton Almeida, which leaves him ranked No.13 at heavyweight.
Lewis vs. Romanov serves as the co-main event on a UFC Fight Night 246: Edmonton card that will be headlined by a women’s flyweight fight between former strawweight champion Rose Namajunas and Erin Blanchfield.
