Former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Muhammed ‘King Mo’ Lawal is looking to get his career back on track by signing for both MMA promotion Bellator and Pro-Wrestling outfit TNA.
‘King Mo’ was fired from Strikeforce earlier this year after testing positive for steroids following his last victory in the promotion and then calling an NSAC official “a racist b*tch” after being handed a nine month suspension.
Now the fighter will attempt to pick up the pieces by signing up with Bellator Fighting Championships where he’ll instantly become their most high profile star and go some way to making up for one of their biggest stars, middleweight champion Hector Lombard moving to the UFC, with former lightweight title holder Eddie Alvarez also rumored to be close to doing likewise.
Of course he still has to serve the remainder of his suspension first which will leave him free to fight in September, but according to a press release it’ll be next year when Lawal will begin fighting for the promotion once they have made their move to Spike TV.
Lawal, who’s also been battling both knee surgery and a serious staph infection this year, is also believed to be getting involved in the pro-wrestling scene by signing up with Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, who’s shows also air on Spike TV.
This should be a natural fit for the fighter who has a decorated amateur wrestling background and is one of MMA’s most outspoken character’s, known for his extravagant entrances to the cage.
It’s understood that he’ll begin his pro-wrestling career as early as this summer.
