Flyweight champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson’s first title defense will come against the winner of a No.1 contender face-off at this weekend’s ‘UFC On FX 5’ event.
Dana White confirmed the plan today, raising the stakes for the bout in question between John Dodson and newcomer Jussier da Silva.
Dodson won The Ultimate Fighter 14, competing at 135lbs, but has since dropped back down to his more accustomed 125lb limit and picked up a win over Tim Elliot back in May.
The Brazilian born Da Silva is another major player in the flyweight ranks, joining the UFC with a 14-1 record which includes a stint as Shooto’s South American champion at 123lbs.
His only loss came by decision to Ian ‘Uncle Creepy’ McCall last year.
