UFC 155, the promotion’s end of year show on December 29th has been enhanced with the addition of two fighters currently vying for title contention in their respective divisions, Brad Pickett and Erik Koch.
Pickett is currently flying high in the bantamweight division after wins over Damacio Page and Yves Jabouin this year, earning ‘Fight Of The Night’ and ‘Knockout Of The Night’ honors along the way as well as an endorsement from UFC president Dana White who admits he loves to watch the British fighter compete.
That makes the 34 year-old a potential title contender at 135lbs, and he’ll have a chance to strengthen his case for a title push at UFC 155 when he takes on Eddie Wineland who’s finally back on form after knocking out Scott Jorgensen back in June.
Meanwhile, Erik Koch can count himself unlucky as he was already assigned to a title fight with current champion Jose Aldo at UFC 153 earlier this month before he picked up an injury and had to be replaced.
Now he finds himself back down the pecking order despite an impressive four-fight winning streak, but a win over Ricardo Lomas in December should get him back in the running.
That’ll be easier said than done though since Lomas is on a three-fight unbeaten stretch of his own, taking out the likes of Hatsu Hioki and Cub Swanson along the way.
UFC 155 looks like being a must-see show with a heavyweight title rematch between Junior Dos Santos and Cain Velasquez headlining while a stacked main card includes Forrest Griffin Vs Phil Davis in the co-main event while Chris Weidman and Tim Boetsch try to stake their claim for No.1 contender status at middleweight.
As such, Pickett Vs Wineland and Koch Vs Lomas are expected to feature on the Las Vegas show’s preliminary card.
