Vitor Belfort Beats Michael Bisping With A Head Kick At UFC ON FX 7

Vitor Belfort ended Michael Bisping’s title dreams tonight at UFC On FX 7 with a picture perfect head kick that brought about a TKO finish.

The two men cautiously circle each other in the opening minute with Bisping throwing out a few feeler punches and a leg kick while Belfort stays poised but not pulling the trigger.

Mid-way through the round Belfort throws a spinning kick, but it doesn’t land. Bisping looks for a combation of strikes, but Belfort lands with a short counter.

Still cautious stuff though from both men though Bisping’s offering a little more at this stage and is starting to make use of the jab.

Towards the end of the round Bisping presses forward with a couple of punches followed by a spinning kick, but the contact isn’t ttoo meaningful.

Belfort lands a nice kick to the midsection. Then in the final seconds he goes upstairs with a kick that stops Bisping in his tracks for just a moment and that causes Belfort to step up a gear and lands a flurry of strikes. Bisping hits reverse gear and steers just clear of danger until the bell sounds.

Blood from Bisping’s nose in the opening minute of the round, but he seems ok and throws a few cautious leg kicks.

Belfort looks poised and ready to unleash at any moment and indeed that’s just what he does as he throws up a left head kick and it connects cleanly and it folds the Brit onto the canvas.

Belfort pounces on the dazed Bisping with savage blows on the mat and with Bisping turtling up the referee has no option but to step in and call an end to the fight, giving ‘The Phenom’ the TKO victory with 1.27mins of the second round gone.

So a big win for Belfort then that puts him right back into the title mix at 185lbs, dashing Bisping’s dream of a title shot against Anderson Silva in the process.
