A match-up of former Strikeforce stars Jake Shields and Tyron Woodley is reported to be in the works for UFC 161 on June 15th.
Shields is set to move back down to the welterweight division for the fight after a brief stopover at middleweight which proved to be ill-fated, with an initial victory over Ed Herman being amended to a no-contest along with a suspension and fine after he tested positive for an undisclosed banned substance.
With his UFC record now standing at 2-2 (1nc), Shields job could be under threat if he doesn’t get back to winning ways against Woodley.
Speaking of which, Woodley made an immediate impact in his UFC debut earlier this month, knocking out Jay Heiron in just 36 seconds, and the former Strikeforce No.1 contender could make another big statement if he can take out Shields as well.
