Michael Bisping had to undergo emergency surgery last week after being diagnosed with a detached retina.
The UK fighter first started to experience blurred vision in his right eye prior to his fight with Alan Belcher at UFC 157 back in April, and then lost the peripheral vision in that eye entirely before visiting a specialist.
Luckily it appears the operation has been deemed a success and he’s now looking forward to getting back into the Octagon, with Cung Le emerging as the current favorite to fight him next.
Remarkably, Bisping’s eye surgery came just 24hrs after he’d been in hospital receiving a cortisone epidural in his spine to treat a recurring neck issue.
Coincidentally, Bisping’s last opponent, Alan Belcher has also suffered from a detached retina in the past. His was so serious that at one stage it was feared he may never fight again.
