Former UFC veteran Leonard Garcia got back to winning ways in his first fight since being released from the promotion last night at Legacy FC 21 in Texas.
Garcia picked up a third round TKO stoppage victory over Rey Trujillo after not getting it all his own way in the previous ten minutes.
He came out strongly in the final round though, sending Trujillo on the back foot with punches before dropping him with a head kick. Garcia quickly followed up with some ground and pound strikes to seal the win just 24 seconds into the round.
The victory breaks a five fight losing streak for the 34 year-old. He’ll now fight again for Legacy FC in September.
Meanwhile, Holly Holm showed that she’s adapting well to the mixed martial arts game after transitioning from a very successful boxing career as she took out Allana Jones in devastating fashion.
Holm, who has prior kickboxing experience, showed off her well-rounded striking game by taking out Jones by knockout with a perfectly placed head kick mid-way through the second round.
She’s now 4-0 in MMA competition with all her wins coming by way of strikes.
