One of the flyweight division’s top fighters John Dodson has had to pull out of his fight with Scott Jorgensen at UFC On FOX 9 due to a knee injury.
It was a good match-up, but it wasn’t actually scheduled for the main card, rather having been likely to front the preliminary portion of the card on December 14th in Sacremento, California.
Nevertheless, the UFC are keen to keep Jorgensen on the card if possible and are currently hunting around for a potential short-notice opponent.
Jorgensen’s been rather down on his luck of late in the UFC with just one win in his last four fights, leaving his career record at 14-7.
With that in mind, Dodson, who conversely has only lost one of his four Octagon outings and is currently the No.2 ranked contender at 125lbs, looked like a tough match-up for him as he attempts to get back to winning ways, so perhaps this could prove to be something of a blessing in disguise for him.
UFC On FOX 9 will actually be headlined by a flyweight encounter as Demetrious Johnson looks to defend his title for a second time against Joseph Benavidez, with Urijah Faber Vs Michael MacDonald serving as the evening’s co-main event.
