Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante may have missed out on a fight with Daniel Cormier at UFC 175 after being shifted aside for Dan Henderson, but he does now have another opponent in his sights.
The former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion is now believed to have been targeted for a bout with former TUF winner Ryan Bader at UFC 174 in Vancouver, Canada on June 14th.
‘Feijao’ is currently ranked No.13 in the division after a KO loss to Thiago Silva in his UFC debut was swept under the carpet by a subsequent stoppage victory against Igor Pokrajac in November of last year.
Bader is a few positions higher up the light-heavyweight ladder at No.9, but he’s also 1-1 in his last couple of bouts – losing to current title contender Glover Teixeira followed by a decision win over Anthony Perosh.
As we previously reported, the UFC are currently targeting a major welterweight fight between Roy MacDonald and Tyron Woodley as a headliner for the event.
That bout, together with Robbie Lawler Vs Jake Ellenberger at UFC 173, should hopefully go a long way to establishing who gets the next title shot against newly crowned champion Johny Hendricks when he returns from bicep surgery later this year.
