Long-time UFC fighter Melvin Guillard will make his World Series Of Fighting debut on 5th July at the WSOF 11 event.
‘The Young Assassin’ will take on Gesias ‘JZ’ Cavalcante who’s already claimed a victory over a former UFC fighter, Tyson Griffin back at WSOF 4 last year.
That was ‘JZ’s’ third appearance for WSOF so far, going 2-1, leaving him with an overall 18-7-1 (+2nc) record in a well traveled professional career that’s also seen him fight for the likes of Strikeforce and DREAM.
Guillard arrives at World Series Of Fighting after an eight year stint in the UFC that ended disappointingly with just two wins in eight fights.
Prior to that he had been on a five fight winning streak though, and if he can re-find his form and put on the kind of exciting, hard-hitting fights that he’s been known for in the past then he could be a real asset for WSOF.
WSOF 11 suffered a blow recently when a scheduled welterweight title fight between Hector Lombard and Jon Fitch fell through, but it’s still shaping up to be a big card for the promotion with a lightweight title fight between Justin Gaethje and Nick Newell headlining, while Jake Shields Vs Jon Fitch is now official for the co-main event.
