Sam Sicilia produced a first round knockout against Akira Corassani tonight at UFC On FOX 14 in the opening fight of the main card.
Round One:
Corassani moving quickly to start as he flicks out a few punches. Sicilia responds with a leg kick. Hard left and a right from Sicilia as he moves in and the two then exchange in close.
Now in the clinch and they battle for position before breaking part. Corassani with a nice leg kick. He tries to go upstairs with a kick, but it doesn’t connect and Sicilia throws a flurry of punches in response and backs him up.
Low kick from Corassani as he stays mobile on the outside. He tries a spinning kick that misses. Right hand lands for Sicilia, but the left behind it misses.
Nice uppercut from Corassani during a brief flurry. Punch lands for Sicilia. Both men land a strike at the same time.
Another toe-to-toe exchange and Sicilia lands hard an uppercut and then absolutely clobbers Corassani with a right hook that floors the Swedish fighter and he’s out with 3.26mins on the clock! 26,000+ fans suddenly go silent as Sicilia reels off to celebrate his first round KO victory.
Corassani has now lost three fights in a row to end early due to strikes which will be a big concern for him and could well spell an end to his time in the UFC.
