The UFC will make it’s debut in Glasgow, Scotland on July 18th for UFC Fight Night 72: Bisping Vs Leites and tickets for the show have already sold out.
“Scottish fans have overwhelmed us with their enthusiasm and support for this event and the announced bouts on the card,” UFC Senior VP of EMEA, David Allen said in a press release. “There is a great deal of hype around this event, and we can’t wait to get to Glasgow in July.
“With a sellout as quick as this, the only question remaining is: Are Scottish fans going to be louder and more passionate than the Irish fans, who set the decibel record in the 3Arena at the Dublin event last year?”
Speaking to MMAjunkie in London on Monday, the event’s headliner Michael Bisping went one step further and claimed the Scottish show was actually the fastest selling event in the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region to date, a fact he couldn’t resist teasing Irish sensation Conor McGregor about.
“Fastest sellout in the history of the European UFC!” Bisping claimed. “Conor McGregor? Dublin? Sorry, my friends.
“Bigger arena, more people, faster sellout – that’s how you do it! Step your game up, Conor!”
The passionate Scottish fan base had been calling for an event for years, to the extent that UFC President Dana White admitted at one stage that he was being “terrorised” by fans demanding he bring the Octagon there.
